[UPDATE: Picasso Cafe has been closed since around May 2015. There’s still no update as to why they closed or where it is now. Please inform us with any detail. Thanks.]
There’s a new coffee shop in Cebu City that I am so excited to talk about… nevermind that I still don’t have a laptop and have to struggle with blogging via my small Android phone. This coffee shop will surely delight you with its name — Picasso Coffee! Doesn’t that remind you of one of the popular Classical artist?
Located in the corner of Gorordo Ave. and Escario Street, this new cafe, I believe, opened sometime last month. I remember passing by the area several weeks ago while renovations were still ongoing.
A Look Inside the Place
What I love about Picasso cafe is it is spacious, and for some reason, it is a relaxing place to be. I can’t explain why. It must be the spaciousness. Or maybe it’s because of the lights?
Unlike other establishments of similar kind within the city, Picasso offers a fairly equal opportunity of sitting and squatting options. Haha! That may be a small thing for most people.
But the best thing about the place, which is located on the second floor of the building, is that its glass panes allow me to watch the streets of Escario and Gorordo – a perfect moment for my introverted personality to have my mind float around and relax. Do you want the perfect spot for this? I believe it’s the southwest corner of the cafe.
Coffee and Smoothies
Picasso offers the usual types of drinks you see in other cafes. But I am more interested in frappe. They have this ‘Picasso frappe‘ that got me excited. Unfortunately, it was after dinner when we visited the place and since I have to sleep early for work the next day, I have to avoid this coffee-based drink. Maybe I should come back one of these weekends to try that special frappe of theirs.
In the end, we ordered smoothies, which happen to be one of their specialities, especially the Buko Pandan flavour. I had the Melon though, since my companion had the buko pandan one.
I must say that at 150 Php, their smoothies offer great value for the money! They’re delicious and the sweetness is just right.
Food! Fooooood!
Picasso isn’t just your ordinary coffee place. They also offer a range of foods that could satisfy a hungry diner. In short, this cafe is also a good place for talks over lunch or dinner considering that there are pasta dishes, sandwiches, waffles and salads, all of which sound so filling for my stomach.
Unfortunately, again, we didn’t order any food when we visited because we already had dinner in a nearby mall. Our trip to Picasso was a spontaneous one. Maybe some other time then.
Would I Go Back to Picasso?
Ha! Did you notice how often I said that I’ll visit again? Haha.
And yes, I would recommend everyone to visit Picasso cafe – especially those who have similar introverted personality as mine. The staff are friendly there and you’ll definitely feel welcome.
