[UPDATE: Kuizine is currently not operating in Cebu, but I decided to retain this blog post for the portfolio purposes of Jonathan Florentino.]
A new restaurant has opened in the heart of Cebu City, perfect for those who want to dine out first before they brave the city’s crazy streets on their way home during rush hour or to have intimate dinner with a few good friends on a special night. Kuizine “The Art of Comfort Food” is the latest place to visit when you’re looking for great, classical foods cooked and presented to delight the senses of modern individuals.
The business started on November 25 and is located in The Boulevard Complex (where the UNO office is) along Osmena Blvd.
My friend Kat and I have to do that obligatory pre-Christmas meet-up so we decided to have dinner at this new restaurant, which she frequented by now. Since she’s more familiar with the menu (and because she has more discriminating taste buds than mine. Ha!), I asked her for recommendations.
Wondering what this restaurant has to offer? Below are some of their specialities that you can try out when you visit there for the first time.

1 | Buffalo Shrimps (appetiser)
Who says that the Buffalo-style of cooking is only for chicken wings? If you didn’t know that yet, then you should feast your eyes on these Fox News food photos! If you’re salivating by now just looking at the images there, head over to Kuizine now and have the real thing with the restaurant’s creative buffalo shrimps as appetiser.
2 | Tinabal (with rice)
Does the name sound new to you? It’s actually a popular term in the Visayas part of the Philippines, especially in Leyte, referring to salted fish products. It’s also often mistranslated as fermented fish, but since the fish retains its original shape, this food product is better categorised under the ‘salting’ category. Okay, enough with the technicalities. Haha. Visit the Kuizine restaurant now and discover how they upgraded this Visayan dish to delight your eyes and tongue.
3 | Adri’s Baby Back Ribs (with rice)
I don’t normally eat “my own kind” (translation: pork). But when it comes to baby back ribs, I really can’t resist, especially when it’s drizzled with sauce having that perfect sweetness my palate savours. Make sure to order this dish and tell me what you think. But wait, who’s Adri?
4 | Kuizine Tropics (mocktail)
I asked Kat what she’ll recommend for my beverage and she picked Kuizine Tropics. And since it has the name of the restaurant with it, I decided to give it a try. With a little stirring, this drink turned out to be heavenly for me! This is actually good refreshment after gastronomically indulging on the previously mentioned food items. Now all I need is a hammock to lie on and sunshine above me. 🙂
5 | Mango Pudding (dessert)
The dishes we just had were so filling that I forgot about desserts. So we decided to order just one for us to share. Unfortunately, this dessert was so delicious that we forgot to take photos of it first! *gasp* That’s how much I love this sweet layer of yellow and pink.
